Back in 2013, I had grown annoyed with the fitness equipment that had started gathering in our living room.  Our family was growing with our soon to come 3rd child, and what was once a combination fitness room and guest room had now become my daughters room.  Fortunately for us, we had a basement to move our fitness equipment to.  Even though we had an option, going down to the old basement while the rest of the family was upstairs was not always a great option.  So with that, many of our weights, yoga mats, exercise ball, and other small pieces of equipment had started to collect in our living room.  It became an eye sore and I decided that there had to be a better solution.

The project didn’t get off the ground immediately, but the thought of solving the space issue for people like myself and those with even smaller spaces stayed on my mind, until I finally started addressing it.

I was fortunate that I was consulting with many different manufacturing companies and had access to resources that could help me start to work on some proof of concept prototypes.  Throughout 2014, I worked on refining my concept and the prototypes.  Engaging engineering resources to help me with concept development and research.  Eventually, I felt confident enough that this was a product that solved a real problem, that many people want would want it, and that needed to come to market!

In 2015, we increased the resources and started full development of the product.  Working diligently to solve the problem in the most simple way possible to provide a great experience for the end user.  This included many different designs for unfolding the product, stowing the product, and how simple the engagement could be with the end user.

By mid 2016, we were able to develop 2 high quality pieces of fitness equipment that meet all the original design criteria within a common platform for the furniture to be designed around.

The furniture design and development started with many visual concepts before we finally settled on the final design.  We were able to quickly get the look and comfort level desired after a few different prototypes to provide the final Stow Fitness product line that we are offering today.
